COMBINES, CARS, & CONFINED SPACES

Just got back from a great Auto Extrication School put on by the Amboy Fire Protection District. Never seen a combine on top of a car before, or a big yellow school bus suspended between two giant tow trucks. Check out our pictures from the event on our RIDE BACKWARDS facebook page. There was also some really cool SCBA and confined space training being done by RTI - Rescue Training Innovations who were there instructing. As to be expected, the hot sellers were both the Rescue and Forcible Entry Dri-FIT shorts & hoodie. People also couldn't keep their hands off (literally) the Kolt24 Dri Release tee. Great job Amboy! You host a stellar training event.

Okay. We have a bunch of stuff coming out this spring. So far the newest evolution of Nike Dri-FIT our Forcible Entry shorts are super popular, so much so that we are working on another pair in black called "RESCUE". We also just got in the Forcible Entry Tech Fleece Hoodie. This is a low-profile, high-performance garment that you see on a lot of MLB teams. The ribbed sides and armhole design provide for 360 degrees of unimpeded motion. If you work or play outdoors, check this hoodie out. It also has a nifty ipod/mp3 cord access in the front pocket. We dig it.
What else? Oh yeah, ladies! We are amping up our women's performance tee options for you. Keep your eyes on the shop for the new women's tees as they roll in this spring. Also in production is a brand new Dri-Release tee called the "Kolt24". We love this material and the fit is top-notch, so check it out when it arrives. I could go on, but I will save that for when the gear goes up online. Wait, one more to announce: a custom Nike fitted ball cap. We heard what you guys wanted, so we are getting it done.

TEAM MFD-RB WINS THE FIREFIGHTER DIVISION of the 2010 Hustle Up The Hancock stair climb in Chicago, IL - 4th place overall out of 149 teams! Bob Koltes was first up for Team MFD-RB, finishing 24th overall (out of 1,441 men) by climbing 94 floors in 13:35. Gail Campbell finished 2nd at 14:20 with Nancy Glass ten seconds behind, in 3rd place for women over 40. AWESOME. Hey people, we have two new Nike Dri-FIT tees debuting this month at RIDE BACKWARDS, the Irish Fire Brigade, and the High Rise stair climb performance tee. Both of these shirts offer our original hand-drawn designs, on lightweight moisture-wicking fabric. Whether you are running in a St. Patrick's Day 10k, or training for a stair climb, you can do both in comfort and style. Oh yeah, we also have tights. A bunch of guys were looking for some quality base layer tights for competition and training. The Nike PRO-CORE tights are optimal for both.

The best way we could figure out to show our gratitude for your loyalty is by making your holiday shopping as easy as possible. Our idea: RIDE BACKWARDS is going to have a 3-day sale on Wednesday, Thursday, AND Friday (so in case you are on shift, traveling, or in a food coma, you won't miss out).

Need a shirt with a collar? We've got one for ya, the RB iDRI polo. This lightweight quick-dry polo has a great athletic cut, and stylish look that will add a touch of class to any event, sporting or otherwise.
We also are happy to announce that we have a new low-profile unstructured baseball cap. It matches nicely with a few of our other designs, and it's soft, comfortable fit makes it a great choice.
Last, but certainly not least is the arrival of the Fire & Ice Hockey Jersey in both black and white colors. Great for scrimmage or pick-up games, and showing some firefighter pride, especially when skating against the cops!

We wanted to pause for a moment here on a beautiful sunny afternoon in Chicago, and remember another beautiful clear still morning, that suddenly became the defining moment of our generation. I am so grateful and so honored to be counted among the Bravest. It is a distinction and privilege I cherish and respect. The brotherhood we share is one of the most noble, loyal, and heroic of our modern era. Along with our brothers and sisters in the military and police ranks, we lay our lives out there each day, as a sacrifice to rescue, aid and assist one another. Yes, there is great recognition, but there is also great cost. We are reminded of that today (everyday), as we lay out our bunkers and hang our coats on the doors of our rigs.
So thank you, my firefighter family. Thank you brothers and sisters of 9-11 and all of you who have given all on the line. Thank you wives, husbands, mothers and fathers, children, and friends who go through each day now alone. Without your Dad to see your game, without your son to shovel your sidewalk in winter. Awake and aware of the empty pillow beside you... There is not a single jet that flies over head in black silhouette that does not instantly remind me of that beautiful clear blue morning in 2001 when suddenly the world changed for us forever.
I remember you. And I honor you each morning as I raise the flag at the station and look to the sky. I salute your honor, bravery, and love for the job. I will try to do you proud as long as I am still able to strap my helmet on my head and go in. Because I know you would not hesitate to give all again, if you were here. We miss you and love you, everyday, but this day is yours. Thank you.

It's been a while since our last dispatch. We've been pretty busy designing new firefighter athletic wear for this fall. A couple things we're excited about are the hockey jersey and brand new tackle twill hoodie we're working on. More new designs will be coming out in the next few weeks on quality athletic wear, including new mesh shorts and a quick-dry polo, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, check out the Ignition, our brand new ultra-light Nike Dri-FIT performance tee. This is just a cool shirt. Literally.

Thought you all might like an update on our fundraiser for Feeding America Hunger Relief. Since our first check was written, we have donated an additional $270 from sales of our Firefighters Fighting Hunger longsleeve tee. 100% of the profit goes to Feeding America to help feed U.S. families struggling in our tough economy. Thanks for supporting this important work!
In other news, RB also has a new Dri-Release short sleeve tee! A lot of guys were asking us to bring our Tech Rescue design to short sleeves, so we did.

We are really hoping that it goes over big so we can offer more designs in women's styles. We also have rolled out a new sleeveless design, the RBF Maltese, on 100% cotton for all you cotton lovers out there.
